The University of Southampton is in the top 1% of universities worldwide and commissioned Recognition to refresh the signage design for the Sport and Wellbeing section. It is a research-intensive university and a founding member of the Russell Group and has gained recognition for its successes and history of world-changing achievements.
The Sport and Wellbeing department were looking to freshen up the look and feel of their facilities across the campus with the view to promoting themselves to both members of the public and new students as well as inspiring their current members.
“We’ve worked with Recognition on various projects over the past couple of years and yet again we have been impressed by their high level of service and creativity.”
Head of Sport and Wellbeing, University of Southampton
After discussing the project in more detail with the key marketing officers involved we then got to work developing a signage design style which fitted within the main university brand. Working with the headline ‘Join in. Sport and Wellbeing’ we selected a key set of colours which would be used to create consistent messaging across various mediums.
One of the main projects was to refresh the gym and sports halls at the Jubliee Sports Centre, University of Southampton, Highfield Campus. We developed a recognisable signage design style which could be used across various materials to create a fresh look and feel throughout the interior and exterior of building. This combined with positive workout messages and statistics based information have helped to create a more inspiring environment.
