Always looking to help our clients improve their websites we regularly run website audits to make sure sites are performing from a technical and usability point of view. In Aqua Plumbing’s case, this flagged up that their site was in need of a rework to bring in line with recent search engines changes and customer browsing habits being more focused on mobile devices. As well as these key issues we also flagged up services which were missing or had out-of-date content.

Our brief was to create a customer focus, friendly and approachable look and feel that would serve a fair amount of technical content up in a clear simple way.

Planned and perfected website design

After defining a brief with Aqua the team here at Recognition took to the studio chalkboard to sketch out some basic wireframes. Taking key pages and elements from the existing site, cross-referencing statistics from google analytics and analysing competitors sites helped us develop these rough plans which were then developed into three homepage concepts. Once an option was selected we moved forward with the rest of the site build. 

A focus on video

Aqua’s key USP is their high level of service. This led us to develop a short video for the key area of the homepage showing a typical customer journey, from initial phone call to final fix and happy customer. This showreel could then be used across social media to engage with potential new customers as well as making Aqua more visible to existing ones. Another key part of the design was to utilised cut-out imagery of the team so potential customers could see the actual guys who they’d be trusting their homes with, creating the friendly local team feel that was clear from the brief.
